Waiting and trying to relax...
Today I am sick of waiting.
I was completely worn out by Saturday morning. Not only have I started babysitting in the evenings on a regular basis - which is not bad at all because its only one little boy - but since my husband had surgery I am also having to pick up on his chores too until he gets better. So I was exhausted and decided to take a quick morning nap; I ended up sleeping until almost noon and woke up in an adrenaline rush realizing I would miss the funeral. I felt horrible I didn't go...
Saturday night I ended up watching 5 kids (7 total including my own 2). It was tiring trying to get a couple of them to settle down to go to sleep but it wasn't too bad. I really do not mind watching multiple kids at a time. I used to watch groups of kids as a teen, babysitting my cousins. And one day I would like to teach, and that will put me in charge of a whole classroom full of kids.... Plus I can use the money.
Sunday was busy but relaxed. After all of the kids were picked up by their parents (some stayed so late it was just easier to let them spend the night) we took our kids to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. It was a really good movie for any age. I don't think my son is quite ready for the 3D movies yet as he took his glasses off a few times. But my daughter was on the edge of her seat, literally, during it. It was both of theirs first 3D movie.
Later my in-laws came over and we grilled hot dogs and veggie burgers. And that night, after they left, we had ice cream Sundays. Its nice to have some relaxing family time for once and not feel rushed to get things done or to be some where.....
With all of the extra work I have been doing, my husband has been really great. He is still trying to help out with what he can since he is not able to use his hand, to the point that I have began to nag him about doing too much as I worry he is going to over exert himself and his hand as its trying to heal.
Its now Thursday and I plan to do some more grocery shopping. I was just at the store on Tuesday and I did awesome! I only spent $25 and that was after I got 51% off my bill- We got 4 tubs of blueberries, a tub of strawberries, jalapeno peppers, Anaheim peppers, 10 ears of fresh corn, 2 packs of Kraft brand sliced provolone cheese, 2 packs of Kraft brand sliced muenster cheese, a loaf of fresh Italian bread, a gallon of milk, tortillas and 2 packs of chocolate chip cookies.
But the store has another sale going on with items I can stock up on and with the sale prices and my coupons, which the store ups to a dollar, I will get everything on my list for free or almost free. Yay!
I plan to have my yard sale this weekend in the mornings before it gets too hot... I hope I have enough stuff to put out to make it even worth the time. I need to make the signs tonight so I don't have to worry about them last minute. I have asked some friends if they had anything they would like me to try and sell for them as I know the more stuff we have out the more people will come which increases my chances of actually selling things.
To also help with getting my finances in order, I am looking at trading in my car for something cheaper. I have been searching around and I think I may go with the Mazda 5 as they are pretty inexpensive, have a really nice safety rating and they have more seating which is awesome for our kids. We have done the math and between payments, gas and insurance we could save $98 a month on my car. I know its better to pay cash for a car but I do not have enough money in my savings to pay for a car out right but I do need to lower my costs and this will do so and I'll be better able to pay it off early too. So Saturday after the yard sale I am going to head to some car dealerships. But I am not going unprepared. I have already pulled up the Kelly Blue Book value on my car so I am fully aware of what kind of trade in I can get for it. I have also done my homework and shopped around multiple dealerships and am ready to price compare and to let a dealership know I found one cheaper somewhere else, that way I can get them to match or beat out competitors. And I will be going off of the online fleet pricing which I will bring printed out as my proof (online pricing, the cost of the vehicle posted online, is almost always cheaper than the price that is marked on the lot if you go in person, so its often better to ask for the online salesman than to deal with the hassle of the guys who chase you down in the parking lot once you arrive). And being that its a holiday weekend, I expect to come across a few sales too. Wish me luck!
