Getting the ball rolling while taking some more hits...
I went shopping earlier this week and I saved 59% off of my bill. I did spend a little more than I had hoped but I was also picking up items for my babysitter's house, like milk, bread, fresh fruits, etc... I spent just over $80 but that is after I saved over $112 off of the total. The closest thing to junk food I bought was frozen pizza and some cereal too (for all of you non-coupon believers who think you can only buy junk with coupons) and I only paid $0.48 each for the pizza as they were on sale for $0.68 each (Fry's mix-in-match 10 items sale) and I had a coupon for $1.00 off five & $0.99 for the cereal (General Mills) as it was on sale too + my coupons. I even got a couple of seedless watermelons for $2.99 each after my coupons for $1.00 off each. But I am not going to list everything and bore you- but coupons are awesome!
As long as I stick with my grocery budget, that is one thing I can keep costs down on, it will help.
I started my babysitting job in the evenings last night. I think it went really well. The little boy was a little upset once he realized his mother left, like any toddler does but he did really well and my kids liked having a little baby there to play with too.
Sadly, a coworker of mine passed away this past Father's Day. I was not very close to him but I would consider him a friend. It was very sad news that I found out when I came into work Thursday morning. He had two children too who are only 6 and 3 years old. It is just very sad that this happened. So I will be attending a funeral on Saturday instead of having my yard sale like originally planned but I can just have it next weekend instead.
This week has been hectic as not only I was sick Monday but so was my husband and daughter. We all caught a stomach flu. I had to leave work early and I went straight to the doctor- Yay, another copay which I am sure will be followed by a deductible bill in the mail in the next couple of weeks (sarcasm). And then more prescription costs.... And I had stayed home Tuesday as I was still not feeling well. That was the worst I have felt in a VERY long time...
Wednesday my husband had hand surgery on his right hand (carpool tunnel). Luckily he has disability leave at his work so he will still get paid while he is out and letting it heal for the next 7-8 weeks. But that was more copays, which I know for a fact will be followed by a couple of hundred dollars worth of deductibles, and more prescription costs.... I just hope this is the last big medical expense for a while....
Saturday night I will also be babysitting 2 little girls that are my kids' ages. I know my kids are looking forward to it like a playdate. I have decided though, with how crappy this week has been, that I am going to use the money I earn from watching them to take my family to the matinee showing of "Toy Story 3" on Sunday. I think it would be a well deserved treat. I know my mission is to save and pay things off but after stomach flus, surgery, starting an additional part-time job and a funeral all in one week, a movie is worth it....
