Growing up
Things have been busy for the last few weeks.
I hosted mom's night and I was happy about it and disappointed at the same time. I was disappointed that the headcount was so low and I kind of worry that it was boring for the mom's who did show. The massages though were awesome and the moms who did come, I was glad it was them who did. I was also able to get my friend's son to fall asleep in my arms (which I was surprised by since he doesn't usually fall asleep anywhere but home) while his mom was able to get some me time and enjoy her massage. I would like to host another and I will just cross my fingers that more mom's show next time but if not oh well at least I got to have a night with good friends.
My in home daycare/preschool has been going well so far. I have room for drop-ins until August but then I am booked solid- Yay! We just had "Color Week" and each child wore a certain color each day or brought a toy of that color and we did different activities around that color. Tomorrow will be our letter "G" week. We will be doing activities around the letter G including the topic "Growing up" and we'll go over what we want to be when we grow up. I even have a field trip scheduled so we can tour the Fire Station on Tuesday to see where the fire fighters stay when they are on duty and their equipment and of course the fire truck. The permission slips are signed and everything is ready to go.
My husband and I took the leap and with part of the money we took out of our retirement, my husband traded in his car. I know it was super hard for him to give the car up, as it was literally his dream car. But reality has to kick in and the reality was that we could no longer afford it. So he went to a dealership and traded it for another car that is more in our price range. With part of the money from our retirement as a down payment, he was able to avoid rolling over any negative equity too (thank God). I know it was hard for him to do it but I hope he knows how much I appreciate everything he does and knows that we are grateful of how much he sacrifices for us.
I am hoping to have a yard sale again in the next couple of weeks. I have a couple of friends who said they want to do one with me too so that will help me with manning it. Hopefully that will help bring in some extra cash to help with paying things off.
We just met with a new provider that will be able to make up the difference in hours for my son's HAB and respite hours that he current provider can't do. And his current provider will be going to 5 days a week instead of 3 too so that's great too.
We just got a notice in the mail that my son's preschool class is going to be adding an additional day too so instead of being a 3-day a week program it will be a 4-day a week program.
My oldest is starting kindergarten this fall too. It's hard to believe that she is getting so big- 6 in November! She isn't too happy about the uniforms/dress-code though. She loves her bright colored, rainbow striped, polka-dot skirts and shorts but she won't be allowed to wear them to school. The dress code is blue jean, navy blue, black or khaki bottoms and any solid color polo shirt or school spirit shirt. So I am going to take her shopping for new bottoms and some bright colored polo shirts she can wear to school and we are going to accessorize it out with bright shoes, rainbow striped and polka-dotted tall socks and bright hair bands and hair ties. I figured with the accessories and some bright colored polos she'll be happier about it..... I still remember when she was first born and how little she was and how the first few weeks I spent sleeping with her on the couch as I didn’t want to wake my husband who was working 2 jobs and also for the fear of SIDS to the point I was so paranoid that I felt she wasn’t safe unless in my arms. She was so small I was nervous about changing her diaper and clothes as I was worried I could hurt her with how tiny she was with her little arms and little legs… Now she is getting so big that I can barely pick her up and carry her upstairs to bed when she passes out on the couch when we do our family movie nights. She even just got her first loose tooth! You can already see the adult tooth that’s replacing it coming through the gums too. My little girl is starting school and has her first loose tooth- even though its cliché, they really do grow up too fast.
