Bedrest- Thhhpppp!!!!!!!!!!
So this past week and half has been a bit chaotic to say the least. The family reunion went well. The turn out was a bit smaller, 40-50 people, when usually there can be 70-100. But it was still nice. We had dinner Friday and I met my husband and the kids there as soon as I was off work.
Saturday we took all of the kids to the zoo so they could all play together. We rode the train around to cut down on walking and packed sandwiches and snacks to save food. My feet started to swell but I had to pick my husband up from work anyways so it gave me a good excuse to leave.
After picking up my husband we headed back to my in-laws and he got in the pool with the kids while I let my feet dangle in. Afterwards he and I changed into less casual clothes and left to join my office at a comedy show at the Improv and to go out to dinner afterwards while my mother-in-law kept the kids for us. The show was awesome and the comedians were hilarious. By the time it was over it was 9 p.m. so we headed straight to one of our favorite sushi places which we had a gift certificate for only to find it shut down and out of business. But at that point I was craving sushi and tempura so badly that we headed to another sushi place just on the other side of the interstate. It was great and we pigged out enjoying our belated anniversary dinner date.
Sunday morning my husband had to work super early so he was off by 10 a.m. so I picked him up on my way to my in-laws for the 3rd day of the reunion and lunch. It was actually a really nice weekend. Busy but at the same time relaxing. I didn't feel rushed any where. I got to sit and stay off my feet while visiting with relatives from out of town and to be honest, it was nice not having to babysit any one for the weekend....It was a nice break, mini "stay-cation" with the family.
Monday morning was just like any other. I got up and got ready for work and dropped the kids off at the sitter's house before starting my hour commute to the office... While sitting in rush hour on the interstate, I started having contractions again so I took one of the pills I was given to help keep contractions under control. After a while I was still having them and started to worry as to way the medication wasn't working, especially since I couldn't take more than one pill every 6-8 hours, so I called the doctors office to ask them how long I should allow for the meds to go into effect. They told me to call them back if I am still having contractions at 9:30 a.m. as they would want me to come in. And of course I was still having them and to add to the contractions, now I was having back labor pain. So I called and ended up leaving work and heading straight to the doctors where they hooked me up to monitors again.
I was having contractions 3-4 minutes apart!! So they gave me another shot of tributaline to stop me from going into labor. The doctor wanted to make sure that I made it another week along so that we would be in "the safe zone" with the baby's development before I went into labor. I was sent home and told to stay off my feet as if on bed rest until the contractions stopped.
Well they never stopped. They calmed down but if I got up and moved around, they would come back. So by Thursday I had yet to return to work and had my weekly routine appointment with the doctor. He finally officially put me on bed rest and I have been here since- going nuts!! At least its not for almost 3 months like when I was pregnant with my daughter, but I am totally nesting and want to do SO much that I thought I had more time to do and now I can't do any of it! I hate sitting still and I am used to being on the go, so having to lay on my left side all day and not being able to get things done around the house is driving me insane. I literally would love to scrub the base boards right now (crazy, I know)...
Now everything has been thrown off track. This was the smoothest pregnancy so far until a couple of weeks ago. I thought I would be able to work up until my due date like I did with my son. I thought I was going to be induced a few days early which would allow me to plan everything out and schedule everything in advance. I thought I had more time to get things ready at the office for the temp, to get things done around the house and would know the exact date I would need to drop the kids off at my parents' house and head to the hospital. It was all planned out and now I am just hoping to make it another day without going into labor.
But on the bright side, my kids have been really good with the whole situation. They have been my little helpers, picking up their toys and laundry while I stayed on the couch. They would even bring me their clothes and to help them get dressed so I didn't have to get up and my son would even bring me diapers and wipes to change him and throw them away for me so I didn't have to move. And I even got my daughter to dust around the house. My husband even made sure to try and get earlier hours so he would be home to help me with anything by mid morning. He even put the kids' plastic cups in a lower cabinet so if they were thirsty they could get themselves a drink of water from the fridge door. My daughter asks everyday if the baby is going to come out and my son is definitely excited about being a big brother, even thinks he has a baby in his tummy too which is super cute (he is 3 so he doesn't quite get it). Everyone is just excited about the new baby.
